The Therapeutic Yoga Training Program
began in 1998 as a continuing education course to teach
physical therapists, registered nurses, certified yoga
teachers, and other health care professionals how to
integrate therapeutic yoga into their repertoire of healing
techniques.
Therapeutic Yoga, as it is taught in this program, is a
carefully designed collection of restorative yoga, gentle
yoga, breath work, guided meditation, and hands-on healing.
The modalities used here are those from the yoga tradition
the founders have determined to be most useful in helping
those recovering from injury or illness.
The program has received incredible support from the
nursing, physical therapy, and yoga communities. Our
graduates have applied the knowledge gained at the trainings
to a wide array of hospital settings, clinics, and private
practice.
You are required to bring a bolster and a
yoga blanket to the workshop (two additional blankets per
person will be supplied by WHY for use during the training).
Cheri Clampett, E-RYT 500 is co-author of the Therapeutic
Yoga Kit and is the founder of the Therapeutic Yoga Training
Program. She is a certified yoga therapist and instructor.
She has co-led the Integrative Yoga Therapy Teacher Training
and has presented Therapeutic Yoga at the White Lotus
Foundation Teacher Training, Integral Yoga Institute,
Himalayan Institute, Beth Israel Medical Center, and the
Rusk Institute at NYU Medical Center. Cheri currently
teaches yoga at the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara and the
Santa Barbara Yoga Center. As a certified Yoga Therapist,
Cheri focuses on the healing aspects of yoga: freeing the
body, breath and flow of energy through practicing with
awareness, compassion and love.
